Well, I did my first 5K this morning since running with Gilbert's Gazelles, and it was interesting for several reasons. The good news is that I finished 2nd overall (woohoo!), the downside being that there was really only one fast runner and he smoked me(dang!) It was really a community fun-run so the competition level was pretty low, but any time I can race and be timed, it's a good experience. I woke up hoping to feel good. In fact, I felt pretty poor. My mailbox was once a strong, manly, fertile obelisk of rock-hard limestone. It was so large that it was somewhat conspicuous in front of my modest South Austin home.
